Parent University is a series of workshops geared towards educating, guiding and allow the parents to participate in their child’s journey. These workshops are geared around cost of college, the importance of a college education and its connection to careers, how to navigate the admissions, enrollment and campus arrival process, and many others. In addition, parents will receive workshops, group sessions, or one-on-one meetings for completing the FAFSA, getting FSA ID, applying for and the PLUS loans, to name a few. Referrals for counseling services or financial services will also be offered to parents as needed.
Parent meetings are held throughout the school year. Parental involvement is ALWAYS encouraged. CAU TRIO will use a variety of methods to inform participants and their families of program activities and to encourage attendance and parental participation (i.e., phone calls, social media, email and direct mail).
